Mom's friend Cindy made the family beautiful bracelets in support of my grandma's battle with Leukemia. Thank you Cindy. I am still raising funds for going bold and going bald on October 22. I am actually a part of the effort this year, by sending out press releases and more in my area. It's pretty exciting to be giving back again.

Life has been crazy and it will continue to be crazy for quite a while I am assuming. This weekend is Wiener Fest and both Louise and Gus are racing (Doodle is too big, she will be able to race with the larger dogs next year). I will post pictures after.

We went to the first home SHSU game with Rose, Jorge and Baby J. It was a lot of fun... even in the rain.
We spent time in Spring with Heather and Amber as they prepare for little CR :)

Lee started school again. We painted his classroom.... orange!

Sammie turned 21 and we had a blast at the crazy Korean karaoke place.

Been working, tons! Lots of events. Luckily we has great help (haha).

Pets are all great, spoiled as always. :) As you can see the two going for a car ride.

Been wearing my support bracelets more now than ever. Hoping for the best.

Went to see Eat, Pray, Love. But I loved the book soooo much more!

Louise is still a crazy tortoise. We have had her almost one full year already.

Went to the first SHSU game of the football season... SHSU vs Baylor. It was a terrible experience - from start to finish. Luckily we had eachother, because the staff there was awful!! Parking, ticketing... all. Basically they oversold our seats and we missed the first quarter of the game.

Great times, with great friends. Still making time to have fun, even if the weeks are long.

Started Snickers (and Gus) in agility. Super fun! Lee is running Snickers and they love it!

Went to the Kolache festival this year with X.

Wanted to read a bit more in my book tonight, but it was left in Austin... :( Poo!

So, I played in photoshop and it feels good to do that again. I haven't had time to do graphics like I used to.
No fonts or brushes are downloaded on my computer (yet), so it's fairly plain, but I like it.
It's a bit blurred with Blogger changing the size to work on my blog. Oh well, you get the point.

Blackout

Started a new work out routine. Bought and elliptical from Craigslist for $30. I'm loving that website as of recently.

I adore the Blackout CD from BSpears. She may have been in a very crazy part of her life, but I love it the most. It is awesome to work out to! I love all the albums, but this is the best to work out to.

Will keep you all posted on pounds lost, but as any sane woman total weight will not be share. ;-)

Updates, Krystle style... through pictures!

Today Salem turned 14 years old!

Went to the midnight release of Eclipse with some good friends. :) There were 9 of us that went.

Got my hair done. :) By my new fabulous hairdresser, Brittany!

Xavier moved into his new apartment.

Went and watched fireworks on the Fourth of July with the clan. Had hot dogs on the grill and watched The Sandlot too.

Been racing to finish Eat, Pray, Love before the movie comes out. It is a hilarious book, I love the author and I am really enjoying the book. Yes, you heard me right... I'm enjoying a book - HA!

Rainbow from the other day. It was gorgeous.

Went and saw Despicable Me. I loved it and hope to see it in the theater again! :) IT'S SO FLUFFY!

Still having our normal game nights with friends... even in the summer! Catch phrase and Game of Things are by far our favorites.

We got a new car! And sold my old car, Sweetie. YAY

Went with Lee to chaperon some of his students on a college tour of SHSU and Texas A&M Prairie View.

Gus finished his 6 week course for flyball. They added another 4 weeks for fun, since some of us have interest in forming a team. :) We love it.

Took everything out of the 2 extra closets. There is a lot of stuff to go through. I'm excited to have a project while Lee is off training this week. I just couldn't help myself and started a little early (while he was packing and organizing for his trip).

Today we went around to look for a possible new car. It's a brand new experience for us... the hawks of the lots were out to get us, but we had a lot of fun. We liked a few cars and think we might be able to manage a payment and sell off Sweetie (the 2001 escort). Keep your fingers crossed.

Flyball

What is Flyball?

Flyball got its start in the late 1960's and early 1970's, when a group of dog trainers in Southern California created scent discrimination hurdle racing, then put a guy at the end to throw tennis balls to the dogs when they finished the jump line. It didn't take long for the group to decide to build some sort of tennis ball-launching apparatus, and the first flyball box was born. Herbert Wagner is credited with developing the first flyball box, and apparently he did a flyball demo on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson that got a lot of peoples attention. Subsequently, the new dog sport for dog enthusiasts was introduced in the Toronto-Detroit area by several dog training clubs. After a few small tournaments were held in conjunction with dog shows, the first ever flyball tournament was held in 1983.

Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51 foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can't cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all 4 jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without error wins the heat.

Jump height is determined by the smallest dog on the team – this dog, called the "height dog", is measured at the withers, then that number is rounded down to the nearest inch and another 5" is subtracted to get the jump height (with the minimum jump height being 7"). So a 13 1/4" dog would round down to 13", minus 5", would jump 8". Maximum jump height is 14".

Our beautiful friend Christina graduated from UT's Nursing School this last week. With two children and a crazy schedule, she still managed to blow us all away and graduate with honors!! We are all so proud.

Lee has been winding down from a long semester and I have been busy planning an upcoming event for the shelter (along with Impact), as well as partaking in disaster training.

The summer is just beginning and although there are no big plans, I think we will be pretty busy. Summer at the shelter is never slow. And Lee is signed up for lots of great training opportunities for his school. He is also moving classrooms this summer. :) Exciting. I think we may paint some orange walls and he is dreaming up a lab manual too. My little sister turns 21 this year and I know we will be down for a crazy celebration, as well as others here and there I'm sure.

Here's to this week. And surviving this weekend. Bark at the Park.

One Year Married

It's been one year since we were married in Las Vegas.

I am so lucky to have such a great husband (and great family and friends). We had a blast in Vegas last year, something we had always talked about and now have stories to share about it. It's been a growing experience. Lee and I have been together for five years and now married for one year. I'm excited to grow old with him and share so many more memories with him. This is only the beginning. Through thick and thin, he's right by my side, my best friend.

Lately

Someone stopped by our house Saturday night to bash off both mirrors on my car... fantastic! The last thing Lee and I want to spend money on is, my car. Gosh! One mirror was unfixable and had to go to the shop. The other mirror was still holding on by the wires, so it survived. Through us for a loop, that's for sure.
Work has been crazy busy. It is always pretty busy in my position as the semesters end. That's when all the students need volunteer projects and hours. It should settled back down a bit in the next two-four weeks. Been planning for a dog event that will take place in June too. I'm pretty excited about that.
Been helping with some dog classes too, for fun. Sister definitely influenced that aspiration. So I am learning the classes and helping as I can. It's pretty fun and gives me something fun to do, just to do it! I think Lee and I might try agility with Snickers this summer! Maybe!
Our first wedding anniversary is this weekend. :) Yay. I'm excited. I have a kick-ass gift for Lee and I am ready for a weekend of fun, just the two of us.
Next weekend is the Bearkat Relay. Woo Hoo! Get to see old friends and we get to relay for fun! I'm stoked.
Other than that things have been pretty good. Lee is taking his last test soon and will be done with his teaching certification -- yay! And it's almost summer. Still paid and he gets it off! Well deserved. :)

Spring Break 2010 - New Orleans or Bust!

At the last minute, Lee and I decided to go to New Orleans. We had saved money from our tax return to use on a vacation and LA was always an option... but became more of an option when SHSU made it to the Big Dance -- Basketball Championship.
We left early on Wednesday (St. Patrick's Day) and returned on Sunday afternoon. Thank goodness for Xavier, he watched the pets. We were hoping to take the dogs with, but hotels weren't as pet friendly as they advertised, and it turned out to be better anyways. Had more time with just my Lee. <3 We went to Bourbon Street, the zoo, the aquarium, the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street and everything in between! I had never been to Louisiana and definitely never have been to New Orleans. It was a blast. There was so much to do and so many things to eat! We spent the most money on parking and food! It was so much fun though. One night we just walked up and down Bourbon Street and another we spent walking down Frenchmen Street enjoying the free music! We did spend one night low key and had dinner and saw Bounty Hunter (which I really enjoyed). All in all, it was a great trip. Lee and I had never traveled solo together to vacation, so that was really nice. We are really thankful to have our "Tommy Boy" (Tom Tom), he helped us around without massive planning or map-questing. Much needed for the both of us.

On another note: Lee finished all of his classes and only has ONE test left between him and his teaching certification! I am so proud of him! :)

Lee and I have been super busy.
Lee is just about finished with his teaching certification. One test and one reflection left. YAY. Almost spring break, he is excited to be off work and class at TAMU. He has been working hard and deserves some time off!
I have been working a ton. I have a great group of volunteers and I feel pretty content with everything there. I got to take today off as some of my comp time. Next week I get to take a few more. Ya!
Lee and I have been planning to take a mini vacation with the dogs for a bit. Super excited. We were hoping to go out of state, but... we are going to pick a few small towns, poke around and be tourists. I'm excited.
I will try to update again soon. :)

Vet Joke

My dad sent this to me today in an e-mail... shared it with my co-workers, now my loyal readers :)

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away." The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," replied the vet.

"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something." The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room.

He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room.

A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$250?" she cried, "$250 just to tell me my duck is dead?"

The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $250."

I know, it's been awhile... but we are alive!

It's a celebration -- it has been 5 Years (as of February 1st) that Lee and I have dated. He's the love of my life. My rock. I'm so thankful to have such a great hubby.

Any free moment, we spend cuddling on the couch or with friends. We added a love seat to our furniture collection. So now, when we have friends or family over, they don't have to fight us or the animals to sit down. We have had (and still have) the gaming chairs, they are just hard for people to get up out of. :) I went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. It was a lot of fun. I got the love seat for $35! Not too bad. We covered it, so it matched our other couch perfectly. Used it tonight with friends over for the super bowl.

I have been catching up on Heroes. Lee has been watching for a while now (they are on their 4th season), and asked if I would catch up, so that it could be a show that we watched together. It's taken me a while, but I made it to the fourth season and now I only have like 10 or so episodes left. :) Then we will catch up on the newest ones together.

Lee took the first test (out of two) for his Texas Teaching Certification. YAY. We should hear back in 2 weeks or so. Lee has been kicking butt with classes and teaching. Some of his students started volunteering at the animal shelter too - it's super cute, they are so excited and they are great volunteers.

Work has been crazy busy lately. Fosters, mobile adoptions and I am constantly training new volunteers. Just a bit much. Hopefully, Lee and I will be able to take that mini vacation for Spring Break. I would love to get away for just a few days - nowhere expensive or with a stocked agenda, just a few days to play and be away.

I am still busy with the Project 365 and I am posting them still on my facebook... just lazy to post them here. Ha ha.

I still don't have my car back. Hopefully Sweetie will be home by this weekend. We have been running for months now. I requested Monday off. It was very much needed. I wish Lee could take one too. Every weekend we have been doing something. He is tackling a new semester and trying to finish up his certification too. He is kicking ass and taking names, really, he is. I'm so proud of him. I got another cyst. Hence the picture for the 18th... haha. The doctor put me on Vicodin -- finally! All is okay now, kinda over the ovarian cyst thing though. Enough is enough.

I got the Michael Jackson movie today. Jen took my on lunch. :) YAY. I love it. He is an amazing musician. He may have had an interesting life that some liked or disliked, but he was an amazing musician. You really believe in his music watching this movie, watching him perform.

Work has been incredibly hard lately. I don't really like to talk about it, nor blog about it. But it has been a bit overwhelming. I did an interview for the news station here today after the city council meeting. You can view the clip HERE. To all of you animal lovers, all we need is support.

I think I have been doing pretty well with the picture a day project. Here are the ones for the last few days :)

Work has been pretty busy lately and about to get more so with school about to start and the students with a need of community service.

My car, Sweetie, will be getting evaluated on Monday by the Ford inspectors. They need to come look at her and make sure that her FOURTH engine will be under warranty - it's crazy! The guy at Ford called me and said "Sweetie ate another engine..." That is never something you want to hear. But it's easier to take when you know the engine is the only thing covered by warranty. I will be sure to keep you all posted. Really wish Ford would just give us a voucher for a new car, it could be a plea to never work on her again... haha.

Went to one of the mobile adoptions today, it was pretty fun. Then came home and finished the crock pot dinner. Made Italian chicken and potatoes, yum! Rebecca & Rob came over and we ate some dinner, played with the dogs and played Hearts. Not very good at Hearts, actually, I suck. But with practice I'm sure that would be a fun game.

Resting tomorrow. Lee has off Monday, I work - BOO!

Jamming Michael Jackson music... love it. Loved the movie too. Can't wait for it to come out on video. If you haven't seen it, whether you love MJ or hate him, you should at least see it. Keep an open mind. I love him so much more. Sammie walked in a hater and walked out a believer. It can happen to you. :)

Sharing more of my Project 365 pictures. Still going strong. I tried this project in 2007 and kept it strong for about 3-4 months, let's beat that this time.

Car troubles again. Sweetie, my 2001 Ford Escort, is in the shop in Huntsville. She made it there and will stay there until we know if the work that she needs is covered over the insurance or not. Lets hope that it is. Thank goodness for great friends. We had a few offer to come and pick us up. Xavier was our knight in shining armor. He drove from CS to Huntsville and back. Of course we pampered him with Wing Stop and gas money, but we are so thankful.

Today would have been Allison's #23 birthday. I miss you so much Ally. <3

Finally home, unpacked and laundry is done...
Now it's just about time to head back to reality, back to work.

Also, I have started Project 365 again, thanks to my sisters peer pressure :) I take a picture a day normally anyways, whether it is the digital cam or my cell phone camera. So, let's see how this goes.

I miss Ally so much. It makes me sad that I didn't capture any more recent pictures of her and I. This one was taken in the spring of 2009 before she moved to College Station.

This is "Taft," one of the six foster puppies that we had last week. They were adorable and fun. Lee named this one because he was the fattest of the bunch, just like President Taft. HaHa. Rest assured, the puppies are on to their new foster home. They are being treated for possible ringworm. And one was already adopted!

Dani came through this last weekend. Lee, Dani and I ventured out to Santa's Wonderland for a hayride and look around Santa Town. It was so much fun! Although it did take two hours of traffic to get there! The place is only about 15 minutes from our place. It was crazy! I had a great weekend hanging out and cleaning up after all our foster puppies left.

We helped Ally and Tristan's family move her stuff out on Saturday morning. It made everything so real, that she really wasn't coming back. It was hard. I miss her everyday.

We were in Christmas mode the rest of the weekend.

Took the dogs to get their pictures taken with Santa Paws.

Snickers was terrified and Gus was waiting for some sort of treat or reward as we were calling them to look at the camera. All of the money from Saturday's pictures went to the animal shelter - so that was pretty awesome. We even got a cute litter paw print Christmas frame. Maybe the grandparents will get a copy for Christmas *wink* *wink* Since these are your grandchild at the current time, and content about that! HaHa.

We had our Secret Santa party at the Menser's house on Saturday. Jenn got me a Spongebob blanket and pillow and Wii points! Lee got Transformers 2, M&Ms and a gift card to the movie theater here. We had a great time. Sunday was my work party. Lee and I hosted it and we all had a blast!

Lee made 6 pies for the parties this weekend! 2 apple, 2 pumpkin and 2 pecan. Everyone was excited and he got great reviews! :) There will be many pies in the future! Very proud of my cook and baker. He spoils us so.

Before I go... I have to share this picture of Lee in his classroom. We went to visit the school on Friday when the kids were having their Winter Dance.

Christmas Parade 2009

This last weekend was super busy for us! I had three adoption events, two groups that were helping us organize and preparing for the Christmas parade for Sunday. Lee helped Xavier all three days prepare the float, while I helped two. It was a lot of fun, just a lot of work.

Saturday night was one of my co-worker, Danny's birthday. He was so excited and I think it meant a lot to him and his family that we came. Lee, Xavier and I got Danny a Texas A&M Snuggie. He was pumped!

A picture or two from Chet and Nicole's wedding - November 21. It was a beautiful ceremony and a smashing time at the reception! We love them both very much and were happy to attend and support them.

The holidays are upon us...

We had a great Thanksgiving and hope that this is just a preview to our holidays! :) We still have Christmas and New Year's ahead.

We went to my parents for Thanksgiving. We got a turtle/kitty sitter. Packed up the dogs and the car and headed out. It was nice to have a break and I can hear Lee yell an "Amen!" to that. I know he has been studying and working really hard this semester - and I will forever be grateful for that.

Thanksgiving day was full of lots of yummy food and relaxation...and pumpkin goodies!

Oh the pumpkin roll, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin spice squares... yummm...
Yes - we had a delicious turkey and all the fix in's, but I have to brag on the desserts!

Thanksgiving evening -- we rocked out. That's right, Rock Band! Sammie's boyfriend, Chris, came over to play with us as well. It was a lot of fun. Even Dad rocked it on the bass for the night!

Enjoyed dressing up the pets. First with Sammie's cat, "Chicken". Then onto the small dog, Gus. :) Couldn't help it.

Lee and I did a bit of Black Friday shopping, nothing too crazy. We did pick up a gift for the Chuy's Christmas Parade (Children Helping Children Parade). Pretty exciting. The "fee" for the parade was a new toy for the children. It was pretty awesome, just about everyone donated at least one toy.

Thursday was the viewing for Allison. My parents and Sammie came into town. As well as, some of our mutual friends...Melanie, Niles and Steve. We all went to show our support for Allison, Tristan and their families. I still can't believe that she is gone. Still feels like I can call her up tomorrow... but I can't. She looked so peaceful. She was so loved. It was touching to see her students and fellow teachers there too. It was hard. But I am thankful for my supportive family and friends. Ally's mom decided to have people donate money to the Brazos Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers. Allison is still giving... It breaks my heart. Lee and I (along with my family) donated in honor of Allison and I have seen a few others come through in her honor. It's so touching.
She was a great friend to all those who knew her. She is be missed...

Rest in Peace Allison. November 16, 2009.

Saturday was Chet & Nicole's wedding. They had their wedding and reception in Austin Hall on the Sam Houston State University campus. It was a good time. Lots of friends (old and new) and it was nice to celebrate the wed of two beautiful people.
Weddings are a time for support and family, and I am happy that we could be there to support the two of them. Happy honeymoon Chet & Nicole -- Have a safe trip home!

I still can't believe it...

Lee called me this morning and gave me the news. Our dear friend, Allison, had gotten into an accident last night and died. She was the only one in the vehicle when it went off the road.

I just spoke to her the other day. We were supposed to have a girly night this week... It's all happened so quickly and I cannot imagine what her family and her boyfriend are going through. It's hard to answer the big question, "WHY."

I am so sad. I have never lost a friend. Someone so close to my age. A best friend. But I am making it through the day on old memories, some that I sit back and giggle at and some that I wonder why we bickered about that. Normal friend stuff. I miss her dearly, already.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and boyfriend.

Birthdays & Ren Fest

Friday the 13th was my hunny bears birthday! After work we went out to eat with some friends to Cheddars. Jenn, Rob (Rebecca was sick), Lionel and Kristie came out. It was a lot of fun.
Jenn came over and we had some ice cream cake and hung out a bit.

I got Lee a SHSU phone cover, a Touch N Brush for the bathroom and his choice of a turtle/tortiose. Jenn and Rob & Rebecca got Lee gift cards to PetSmart.

Saturday morning, we started the day off taking the dogs to the dog park and let them run around with Rob & Rebecca's pups (Boomer and Spyder). Snickers swam in the pool and they all ran around and wore themselves out! After the dog park we took the dogs over to PetSmart to pick out Lee's real birthday present -- his turtle or tortoise! After over an hour and a half (and a bit more spent then we thought...lol) we got little Louise!

We introduced the other pets to Louise. They all were pretty interested in her. Louise likes her head rubbed and loves her lettuce. She is happy in her new habitat and we are happy to have her. I wasn't sure about getting a turtle, let alone, a Russian Tortoise, but I really like her and I love how happy she makes Lee! The toroise is set to live about 75 years, so a will should be made soon. Crazy that tortoises can live that long! :) Stay tuned for more pictures of Louise.

Today (Sunday), we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival ("Ren Fest") with a good group of friends. We decided that instead of a big party we could all go out and do something, like Ren Fest! Lee (and Lionel) had never been. It was so much fun. We ate lots of great food, saw all kinds of people dressed up and crazy, and played lot of games.

All in all, it was a great weekend that I spent with the greatest hubby! Love you baby!

Weekend of Laughter

This weekend was a blast!

On Friday my sister came into town. We went to see the Michael Jackson movie "This Is It." Lee went to see "Men Who Stare At Goats," he didn't want to see the MJ movie. Shame on him! :) JK. Sammie didn't really want to see it either, but I was determined to see it whether someone went with me or not. Luckily, I guilt tripped Sammie into it. She went into the movie as a person that disliked MJ and came out loving him. It was fabulous!

Saturday we went to the Aggie Pet Zone open house. It was a lot of fun. That is where the pups are going for XMAS and that's where Gussy goes for playcare. We love it there. We got a tour of what is to come and got to see some of our dog friends. Becca brought Boomer and we brought Gus.

After a while, we headed out to Houston to see Rosemary, Jorge and the baby, Jayden! :) It was so great seeing them. I hadn't seen Jayden since he was born (well technically 1 1/2 or 2 weeks after he was born). He is now 4 months! Time flys!

We headed over to the House of Blues a bit early and I'm glad that we did. We (Lee, Sammie & I) had gotten general admission tickets and it was standing only. So we got a great spot by getting there before others. There were at least 300 people there last night -- a lot more than we thought! It was a great show. The Comedians of Chelsea Lately. The comedians were: Sarah Colonna, Loni Love, Heather McDonald and John Caparulo. All hilarious! My faves on the show are those three women, but John (from Ohio!) was really quite hilarious. John was Lee and Sam's favorite of the night. We got some pictures afterward, which just topped off the night for me. Fabulous time! Can't wait for the next comedy show... Lee and I would like to see more, we enjoy laughing and it's affordable (compared to most concerts!).

Now onto the week and Lee's birthday!! :) Getting excited...

Halloween!

We took the pups to the Halloween celebration for pictures and goodies. It was a lot of fun, but I know both of them were miserable. They were super cute though. Snickers was a banana and Gus was a [land] shark. It was adorable.
I took Gus to the Aggie Pet Zone Halloween party as well. We won a cake in the cake walk and he got scariest costume. I can't wait for Heather to post those pictures! They are going to be adorable.

Lee and I hosted a Halloween party. Made cookies, punch, Lee hung lights and I decorated the interior. It was really quite nice. I was a little disappointed with the small number of attendees, but it turned out to be a really fun night. We all hung out, drank, ate some cookies and played rock band! I love my friends and am so thankful to all of those that came (whether in person or in spirit).

Saturday, October 17 was the 3rd Annual Wiener Fest in Bryan/College Station. It is an event put on by the animal shelter and it was my very first wiener fest event! Lee and I entered Gus into the "Wanna-Be-A-Wiener" Race. Snickers was above the weight limit -- she had to be able to fit into the dachshund box, and she didn't. :(
But Snickers got to meet a lot of different types of dogs and we plan on entering them into the costume contest next year! (When we have time to make them from scratch, rather than buying them.)

Strawberry Fields....Forever

I know, it's been a while. I have just been so busy at work lately that when I get home, I want to relax with my furkids and hubby, not get on the computer.

We had a semi-surprise birthday party for Xavier's #21 birthday last week. It was a lot of fun. We had jello shots and played games. Makes me eager for Halloween!

Sunday-Wednesday this week I went to Corpus Christi for Animal Response Disaster training.

I passed, with a 100%!! YAY. It made me think about not only what we would do at the shelter if there was a disaster, but what we should do at home for ourselves and our pets. It was a good experience, that is for sure. :)

This weekend is Wiener Fest! I'm very excited. This is the big event out in the community for the shelter and this is our first time to attend. Gus is racing in the "Wanna-Be-A-Wiener" race. Hopefully he will run... I see him getting excited to play with the other dogs. Snickers is not racing, because she is too big for the boxes (they are dachshund size).

Been a few places, and have some stuff to share with my loyal readers/bloggers.

Wednesday was Judy and Brent's last day at the admissions office. Judy had a great retirement party and I was so happy with how many people took off work to come out and support here. Work is a bit stressful as of late, and I was excited to be able to take a mini holiday to Huntsville. I got to catch up with old friends in the admissions office and visit LEMIT. It feels like home there. Lee and I say that everytime we go back and it's so true. :)
Judy and Brent were among the most important people I knew at Sam Houston. They were trusted mentors. Without Brent I may not have had the extra chance to show all those who believe a standardized test can determine your worth in college wrong. I got through college with great friends, experiences and a fairly good GPA. All thanks to those in admissions that work with the PREP program. Brent will be missed at Sam Houston.
Judy was always a supporter for all things relay or student ran. :) She really believed that all of us would make a difference in the world, whether it was raising money or standing on the field as we welcomed everyone to an event - she was always right there. She will be missed at Sam Houston.

Saturday morning we went out to the St. Francis Festival -- A Blessing Of The Pets with the dogs. The shelter was out doing microchips/tags and out with our mobile adoption team. All three of the dogs that went out to the mobile adoption event were adopted!! It is such a great feeling! We saw turtles and donkeys. Gus was terrified. Snickers was more concerned about the dogs... LOL. We have very special furkids, as you all know. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

Lee and I ventured out for the second Saturday home game today after the St. Francis Festival. The last game rained through the second quarter, this game was a bit different. The weather was nice and cool, overcast and seemed as though it would be perfect football game weather. I was mistaken. Two minutes into the game it was delayed due to lightening. It then proceeded to rain on and off throughout the whole game. Lee and I had to head off to the bookstore to buy jackets because UPD wouldn't let us bring in our umbrellas, because they claimed they could be used as weapons (but they don't check your purse or backpacks...hmm...). Anyways, we went home wet, with new jackets and winners. SHSU won against St. Josephs 41-0. YAY.

Now onto Sunday. A day to relax, meet with the Avon lady, clean and get ready for the week ahead.

It's still raining here (on and off). It feels like we had months where it did not rain, and Mother Nature is playing catch up... It cools the temperature down for a bit. But I'm ready for real fall weather. :)

Salem loves the cool weather because we can open up the windows.

I ordered a new ring.

It stands for equality for marriage. It was $10 to the cause and I am very happy to stand up for all my gay, lesbian and trans-gender friends. :) I believe that everyone, no matter who they love, should be able to be married. So, I am proud to wear my ring. You can get more information from their website here.

Meet Leeroy...

He is a newbie to the animal shelter. We, as staff, love him. He is a young calf, and he is super friendly.
We also have a potbelly pig named, Hamilton. He is also very friendly, but second to Leeroy in cuteness.

Last week, I was having a sorta rough day and my hubby (being his awesome self), decided to get me a little something to cheer me up. No, not flowers -- SpongeBob. h how he knows me so well.

Ok, time to list all my updates out again... since it has been a while.

Lee got a job! He is teaching physics at a high school here in town. He is so giddy and excited to have his own classroom. He will make a fabulous teacher. I am so proud of him.
The weather has FINALLY cooled down. It is in the eighties and the seventies at night. Yay.
Work has been crazy busy for me, but I am excited for a low key weekend before Lee officially starts teaching on his own.
Went to Paws in the Park to support Sammie at her first big dog event last weekend. It was pretty exciting. :)
Found a stray dog today - kind of irritated by it though. His owner wasn't very grateful for me finding the little tubster. I was worried that she would get hit by a car there are very busy streets around us... oh well.
Sweetie, my little escort, has been acting up and needs to go to the doctor (Ford)
Been playing Rock Band like fools when we have some time off with friends, I am the tone deaf vocal queen! -- I stink at the instruments

Things are going well. Pets are crazy like normal. Still raining here.

Gimme Gimme More

Snickers got a new bed from her grandma and grandpa. :) She is very happy. Lee and I were losing space on the bed more and more each night. She went from sleeping like a tiny dog in a ball at the end of our bed to spreading out across the whole bed like a great dane -- that's where I had to say no more puppies in our beds. Snickers sleeps to Lee's side of the bed and GusGus sleeps to my side.

Yesterday (September 16) was my Britney holiday. I had been anticipating this for months!! I ended up taking Sammie. I know Lee would have went, but I know he didn't necessarily want to go. I had sooo much fun! Although we were up semi high, she was still right there!! It was amazing. She played stuff from Baby One More Time... all the way to new songs off her most recent CD, Circus. She even played Breathe On Me - one of my all time faves. She did a cover of Alanis Morisette. Awesome. She did her whole show like a circus. Side acts, flashing lights, fire, smoke and fireworks. I could go on forever. All in all - it was a show of a lifetime. Love it.

Today (September 17) I wore a bald cap, for (most) of the day.

If I Didn't Have a Dog... Or Cat......

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture & cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without
wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted,
without taking into consideration how much space
Several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money, & no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with numerous veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, & leave him/her/it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with
baby gates or barriers.

My house would not look like a day care center,
with toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags,
treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L,
F-R-I-S-B-E-E, W-A-L-K,, T-R-E-A-T,, R-I-D-E, G-O

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

Everythings Going So Well...

Just feel like listing out happenings.

Lee and I treated ourselves to a new fun toy (picture)
We have a Beatles jam session tonight. Jen on drums. Lee on guitar. Me on Bass. Lee and I rotate lead singer. It's a blast. (picture)
Recruited at the large university in town today, only about 50 out of their 50 million students showed up at the volunteer fair. I guess if we get even 2-3 volunteers it will be worth it. Just felt like a waste.
Gus and Lou can jump over the cat room baby gate. Suck. How did both of them learn that in ONE day?
Semi excited for this weekend. It will be adventurous, that is for sure.
Need to make two Britney concert tees for next week. I have a design in mind (Picture)
Snickers is not a fan of Lou. She is ready for our short term foster pup to leave... LOL.
Gus can outplay Lou. Lou is the laziest puppy ever. Is that a good sign? Maybe when we get our boxer (in the future people, NOT now), he or she will be just as chill.
After going ice skating (picture), I now know, I stink at ice skating.
Still brainstorming what to do about the computer situation. May sit on it for a while since Lee's works perfectly. My poor desktop just needs a serious facelift - it can't even handle photoshop anymore, that sir, is a problem.
I realized that one of my favorite things is to sit outside with the hubbster and watch the pups play.
Salem slept in our bed last night. I think he was reminding all of the dogs that he came first. Goober cat.
Salem still loves his food. He has gained weight, not lost any, which is very good with his kidney problems.
Almost finished our "corn hole" game project. I think we will get to paint them this weekend. It's nice to have a little project to do with Lee.
Britney concert is in 7 days. WOO HOO! My first Britney Spears concert ever. (Don't be a hater)
After fostering yet another puppy, I can honestly say that I would enjoy adopting a dog 6 months or older for the next pet. Puppies are overrated...LOL. But cute, yes!
I'm currently jugging reading "Undead and Unwed" and listening to the Sookie Stackhouse series. The vampire obsession is almost sickly. Can you guess what I want to be for Halloween?

Foster Furkid

We ventured to foster again. This time for TWO and a half days.
Yesterday, a man brought in a white boxer named Lou.

Isn't he the cutest thing ever? He didn't technically need to be fostered, he is 10 weeks old. But we are working on crate training him and prepping him for Pet of the Week. He is going to be a star and get adopted! We are stoked.

This foster will be returned! :)

Lee and I had a cheap date night last night. We went ice skating and ate dinner with LL and Ryan. It was a lot of fun. Lee has been looking forward to ice skating and we had a coupon, buy one get one free. I now know that I am NOT good at ice skating. LOL. Luckily I did not fall, but I came close multiple times.

Fun and Plans

Last night we went and saw Jeff Dunham at the TAMU First Yell. It was soo much fun! I wish we could afford to do stuff like that all the time. :)
We laughed all night long. Good times. His opening act was really quite good as well. He was called "The Guitar Man", Brian Haner. You should look them both up on YouTube if you haven't heard of either of them.
The Aggie traditions prior to the show (hence the "first yell" title) was a little odd. I guess because I'm not an Aggie, and I really don't want to be one. Their traditions are just sooo crazy! LOL!

Finally, a schedule. Lee and I really needed to figure it out, that way we didn't have to try and split actual holidays. Way too stressful and too much driving.

Recruitin'

Took the furkids recruiting with me today at the junior college here in town. It was a lot of fun, although everyone always assumes that the small one is a girl and the large dog is a boy. GRR! I even got a blue collar for Gus and a dark pink collar for Snickers. Silly people. A few people asked if they were available for adoption -- no. LOL. It's just easier to take my dogs because they have great temperaments. I know they won't spaz out or get snappy. But they did fabulous. They were good little poster children for the animal shelter today. And I think we did a great job recruiting some possibly reliable and good volunteers. :)

This is going to be a busy month.

Three...Two...One - Go

I can never think of witty titles, as of late. Oh well.
I've been working a lot lately. It took a toll on me this weekend. I think I would like to spend my Sunday lounging. Lucky for me, Lee only works 3-10pm. YAY! So we can sleep in and cuddle some and have no rush to get up or out. Need some Lee time before he starts up the fall semester (on Monday). It still feels a bit weird that he is starting school again, and I am not. But, I have no desire to go back to school. Maybe take a graphic based or web based class here and there, but nothing like another degree. Plus, I'm proud to be able to support Lee while he gets his masters and I will be here to support him if he decides to get his PhD as well. He is such a smart man and I am confident that he could do it all. I think we all know that. :)
I have been trying to walk the dogs every evening, even if it's only 15-20 minutes (although the goal is 30 minutes a day). So far so good. They love it. And they are getting better at walking together on the leash, which is good!
Salem has the spare room blocked off, as of now, so that he can enjoy some of his mice and catnip toys without having to worry about Snickers or Gus eating them. We just baby-gated the room off. Gus is irritated, but Snickers could care less - who would have though...LOL.
My Britney Holiday is soon, September 16. I'm super stoked. I need to make shirts for Sammie and I. It will be exciting.

Move In, BBQ

It has been crazy busy. It's been a little over a week since we moved into the new place and we finally have everything unpacked. Maybe not all in the right places, but it is unpacked. YAY.
This weekend we had a BBQ for our friends. It was nice to be able to show off our new place and see friends that we haven't seen in a while. Lee made awesome burgers, hot dogs and beer can chicken. yum, yum, yum.

It was a lot of fun. Some friends came from Huntsville, Austin and even Dallas.

Things have been going pretty well. Keeping myself busy with work and home. Lee starts school next week. And Amanda and Allison start teaching this week, YAY!

Moved In...

But I wanted to update quickly that we are all moved in. Not all boxes are unpacked, but they are all in the new place.
It's fabulous. It feels so good to have a backyard and a bigger living area and kitchen! We love it.

No more reviews. Just listing the movies I have seen lately. Just not sure where I stopped before, LOL. Harry Potter (normal and imax), Labor Pains, For The Bible Tells Me So

There has been quite a few things that we have done since my last update. So I will keep it brief and fill this update with pictures.

Mid-Late July was Jen's birthday bash. Intimate and fun. We went to Grand Station and played laser tag, arcade games and just hung out. It was a lot of fun.

The gang (Nathan, Lydia, Xavier, Rob, Jen, Lee, Me)

Bryan had a chemical fire/explosion and we had to evacuate the shelter. It was insane, although I was super anxious and tinkled eight times before we left the shelter, I think I handled myself pretty well. You can see the video and story from KBTX, here. If you look really hard you can see Lee and me. :) Movie stars! LOL.

The pavilion that we took the animals too. Thank goodness we have such awesome resources in our area. TAMU helped us out a ton. Thank you to all of our awesome volunteers for their quick response too!

This last weekend I went to Austin for my sister's twentieth birthday! She had planned for us to chill out and see Harry Potter in IMAX. It was pretty fun. There were a ton of people, since Saturday was the opening weekend for the movie in IMAX. It was a lot of fun though.

We were excited, can you tell? :)

Sammie and I made the mistake of asking the movie guys whether or not they sanitize the glasses in between uses. He said no. So we were nervous for germs. Luckily though, only the first 12-15 minutes of the movie was in 3D.
All in all, it was fun! :)

We move August 15th! Boxes are now filling our apartment and I'm getting stoked. I won't be able to update much until after the move, but I will keep you all posted.

Snickers Graduates

Snickers graduated from Puppy Class at Aggie Pet Zone. Although Snickers is not a puppy, we did take her through the same "basic obedience" classes that we took Gus through. One step closer to possibly agility and/or canine good citizen.

The fabulous pictures if from Heather Pitts. She was in our puppy class with her dog Oliver. :) I am so in love with how these pictures came out. Our Snickers is such a beautiful girl! Bad News & Good News

So, most of you already know, but I took Salem to the vet last week because he was peeing on the weirdest things and it was really starting to concern me. The vet did do a urine test - which came back that he had a urinary infection. He is on some antibiotics for it, and should be done with it this week. The vet also had some concerns with his age and health. Salem is 13 years old. So we did a blood test. The blood test came back that he had kidney problems. We have switched him to K/D, but even then the doctor isn't sure how he will take to the food and if it will help his kidneys. The vet said it could be 6 months or it could be years. He has switched and actually loves the new food and believe it or not - it's cheaper than his other cat food Evo. So far so good. He has a check up in a month and hopefully he is either the same weight or heavier... thin is not good. So, we are watching him and pampering him like crazy.

On another note, the pups have been training and training and are doing fabulous. Today I took them to CSISD summer camp. The shelter did a program on responsible pet ownership, how to crate train, how to clicker train and so on. Snickers is such a social butterfly with people. :) Especially kids! Gus is still warming up to a room full of kids wanting to touch him. Heck -- who wouldn't be nervous with a class full of 20 children (3rd-6th grade)?? We are working with Snickers to get her CGC certified. Gus is still to young, but when he is at least a year old we will work with him on it too.

IT'S RAINING LIKE CRAZY HERE. Tornado watch and everything. I've got a Salem under the table, Snickers on my lap and Gus playing with his kong. I will take a video to add to this post.

After receiving an e-mail from Pandora, regarding the fact that they will now have to start charging people to listen to the stations, I began to freak out and search for a new place to listen to music while I work. My friend Nathaniel made a post on Facebook about a newer site called GrooveShark that allowed you to listen to music. I was pleasantly surprised. Normally these "free" sites where you can listen to any song or artist has terrible quality of sound, but this site was legit. My officemate and I jam to it all day, she will pick a song then I will. It's quite fun, and just about everything is on there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!

I was going through some old pictures and it is so crazy how much Gus has grown. :) Everyone always tells us "he's so small and cute." Well look how much he has grown! Still cute, just gained a little bit of height and some crazy hair. The picture on the left is when he was 5 or so weeks old. The picture on the right was from yesterday, Gus at 6 or so months old. He is getting so big! We can't wait to move into the new place...ONLY about a month away -- then Snickers and Gus will have the yard they need and want to play in all day and night!

Lee doesn't get very many weekend days off and the ones he has had off lately, we have traveled out of town or been doing something. So today was a day to be with eachother. It was so nice. We were able to sleep in with the pups. Meet Rebecca and Rob for lunch. Wander around the mall for a bit. Saw Bruno in the theaters (with some of our free passes, review coming soon...). Picked up some needed and unneeded items at Target. And we ended the night with a Harry Potter movie marathon. Simple and cheap fun things. I love my husband and I love being able to just have a simple days to ourselves. Ice skating is on the agenda for the next day off -- we have passes to go. We would have gone today but because I injured my toe on Thursday I didn't think putting on tight skates would be a good idea. You all know I'm a clutz and so it should be to nobodys surprise that I even hurt my toe, let alone almost lost my big toe's toenail...eh! I know, I know.

Lee works tomorrow. I plan on cleaning up the apartment, watching some Spongebob and get ready for the week. Same ol, same ol.

Fourth

The ladies -- Sammie, Me, Noel and Becca

Sammie came down to visit for the Fourth of July. It was a lot of fun. I always have a good time when she is around. :) It's like we never skip a beat. It was nice to have her come to visit after a long week of work.

It was nice. I was able to help her with her business website and her business cards and we were able to just hang out and relax a little bit too. The Furkids Academy is about to launch in Austin. Yah! I'm so proud of her. She is a great dog trainer and I know she is going to make a difference in the dog training profession. Now, my side business -- that's a whole different story. It is slowly moving along.

The fireworks were not the greatest, they only lasted about 13 minutes - according to Sammie and Lee. But it was a good time with friends. Next year we will travel for a better show. :) That is for sure. Lee had off the night and we met up with Rob, Rebecca and Noel. Yay.

Some new movie reviews...

We saw Transformers on opening night. It was worth it. It was intense and Shia did really well in the movie. It did feel the two and a half hours long, but all in all a good movie. Would I see it again? If Lee really wanted to :) And I know that is one that he will want to own.

The Proposal I really liked it. Love the chick flicks and Ryan Reynolds was looking good in that movie? There always has to be a good looking man in a chick flick...hehe. It was a really cute story and yes, I would own it. It would be one of those rainy day movies.

Ramen Girl I just watched this one. I think Brittany Murphy is super cute and her giggle is contagious. The movie was a little long - okay, it felt long (only an hour and forty something minutes), but it had a good story. It was subtitled, so after a long day at work it may not be the best film, but it had that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist Love Michael Cera (the skinny kid from Superbad). And this was a really cute and quite humorous movie. Maybe not one to watch with the family, but a group of friends. Watch it again? Sure. But I don't think that would be one to buy.

He's Not That Into You I loved this movie! It had a ton of famous people in it. It had a lot of different story lines going on it once, but was easy to follow and fun to see how they would all relate back to eachother. I think this is one of those chick flicks that the guys could also enjoy. This one goes on the rainy day movie list.

Visiting LeeBee

Gus and I ventured out to visit Lee at work tonight. We got bored at home and decided we wanted to see him. :) It was nice. It's funny because we got so many looks, but dogs are allowed.
Anyways, I captured the memory on digital film.

Snickers did not go, for two reasons...
1.) she would have peed herself with all of the noises going on (forklifts, big carts and the overhead speaker)
2.) she gets her outing tomorrow at obedience class - YAY

Just a quick picture update on what you have been missing...

Here's a picture of us when we went to the Astro's game a few weeks ago with Xavier, Amanda, Rosemary and Jorge. It was a really fun time. :) We were sitting on the baseballs outside Minute Maid stadium.

The weekend after we went to Mom's company picnic. No, we didn't win the TV... Next year! :) And we were able to go out for the day and take the dogs. Yay.

Last week I went to training for Basic Animal Control officers. Jen, Mary and I went to cross train. It was a fun little trip. Got educated and drove through tons and tons of corn fields. LOL

Last weekend was the wedding. Brandon and Brittany had a beautiful ceremony.

I know it has been a while. This week has been crazy and Lee's work schedule, when he is home, I want to spend time with him, not my computer.

This week, I worked Monday and almost all Tuesday. Then Tuesday night through Thursday I was out of town at a Basic Animal Control training. The great thing about my job is they really want everyone to be cross trained, which I think is awesome. So, even though I have no aspirations of becoming an animal control officer, I was able to see what they did and went through the basic course. I will know in 2-6 weeks (after the grade everything) if I passed. :) But I felt pretty confident about it, but we all know that tests are not my strong point.

Yesterday (Friday), after working most of the day, Lee and I headed to Dallas. A lot of riding in the car for me this week, LOL. We are spending our down time with his family and then tonight we are going to my cousin Brandon's wedding here in town. Brandon is my Uncle D and Aunt V's son, in case you didn't know. :) I'm kinda excited. I got a cute dress and I am expecting a fabulous and fancy wedding. Tomorrow we head back. Back in the car....ah!

On a super exciting note -- I GOT TICKETS TO SEE BRITNEY SPEARS IN HOUSTON ON SEPTEMBER 16. I'm so excited!! Nothing can bring me down, oh no. Been a fan forever and I have never seen her in concert, now is the time...even if she is miles away from my seat, I will see her.

Weekend was pretty good. Lee worked, I caught up on housework and went garage saling! This place is a gold mine, people here have pretty good stuff -- especially compared to the Huntsville garage sales LOL. Got some paintings for the new place, some cool gifts, video games, cookie cutters, fondue pot (orange for my Lee) and quite a few other things. Sunday, Lee and I went to Rebecca & Rob's for their house warming BBQ. It was fun, low key and good eatings! Can't wait to do the same when we move into our new place!

More movies to add to my list. Now, don't expect a paragraph or in-depth analysis of these movies -- I am simply putting down a few thoughts about these movies. I wish I had the time for a more in depth kind of look, but sadly I do not.

UP
Lee and I went to see this movie which the previews made seem too cute to miss. It was a very sad beginning. I look forward to growing old with Lee like the old man did in the movie. It was so sweet. I loved the talking dogs and thought the plot was super cute. I would own this movie. This would be one of those picker uppers, a good movie for a rainy day. Worth whatever it costs you to go to the movies.

Rumor Has It
As I said before, I am a Jennifer Aniston kind of girl, so I had to add this to my netflix list. It was interesting. A new spin on the Graduate story. I liked it. It was one of those movies that if you caught it on ABC Family or added it to your rental list it would be worth it - but not something to go out of your way to see. Pretty cute.

Sleepless In Seattle
I know, I haven't seen it...shame on me. Love Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Classic romantic comedy. But I have to be honest, Meg or Tom were not my favorite characters. I loved Rosie's character and the little boy Jonah. I'm glad I was able to see it and this would be one of those rainy day type movies.

Summer Movies

With Lee working nights, I have had a lot of extra time. What do I do with that extra time? Watch movies on our Netflix! It's really awesome, we have the Netflix through the mail and the Netflix instant on our TIVO. Loves it.

These are just some of the movies I have watched so far. I plan on updating the list as I watch more (or remember more).

I-See-You.com
It was good. About a kid that puts his family on the internet. They are crazy freaky people. :) It was entertaining, but I'm not sure that I would watch it over and over again.

Along Came Polly
I don't know why I haven't watched this one yet. I love Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. It was super cute. A good summer watch. Simple romantic comedy. Would watch it again.

Doubt
About the Catholic Church and a priests affair with a student. Slow, but interesting. It took a long while to pick up but decent storyline. Probably wouldn't own it or watch it again, but worth renting.

Gray Matters
Decent movie. It's about a woman who slowly realizes that she is a lesbian. I would probably watch it again. Heather Graham was super cute and the movie was pretty amusing and entertaining.

Season 1 & Season 2 of 30 Rock
Lee and I have become addicts. This show is super hilarious. I love Kenneth's character and Tina Fey is kickass. If you have extra time, you should pick up this show. Once you start, it's hard to stop watching!

Penelope
It's a child's tale with a twist. Christina Ricci plays a pig nosed girl with a curse. Super cute movie about her finding out about herself and finding true friends and true love. I would love to own this movie and watch it over and over again.

Caffeine
It's about a year old and an independent film. I turned it off and I did not finish it. It was slow and like any other movie about a couple that broke up. Blah Blah Blah.

Videos Galore!

Mom let me borrow her Flip Camera for a while and believe me, it is being put to good use. Pretty much the animals, but hey - they love it! :) Lee had Tuesday and Wednesday off, so we spent our nights out at the dog park. The dogs love it and we always have fun playing and laughing.

Snickers actually playing IN the water! It took us a while to get her to do it, but she does it now. She actually started rolling her head in the water to get it wet, how cute!

I thought, 'how cool is that?' so I click on the link and started to read this story about these two roommates that found a pit bull abandoned on the side of the road in bad shape. After reading the story I see a link for the news story on KBTX -- that's Bryan/College Station! That's in my neighborhood! I didn't even hear about it on the news, I heard about it from a dog tips/stories twitter. How crazy is that?!

So, Wednesday evening I picked up this random cough. And I didn't think much of it because I figured, it wasn't going to stick around. I was wrong. I left work early on Thursday and was up and down all day Friday and Saturday. It was not too fun. My parents came into town on Friday. Dad went with Lee to a baseball game (SHSU vs. Rice) and mom and I were supposed to go to Rosemary's baby shower on Saturday. But we couldn't go because I still had a fever, and even though I was feeling okay in random increments, I could still get Rose sick. And I would have hated giving this sickness to her for the last hump of her pregnancy. :( I felt awful. That was one of the reasons my parents came into town and I was looking forward to being there for Rosemary like she is ALWAYS there for me. I love you Rose!
I'm still coughy. And I still have a tad bit of a fever, but I am hoping I can keep it down today. Let's hope so. I'm thankful that my parents came into town, but wish we could have played more and that I wasn't sick.
I'm ready for my hunny to be done working for the day too :)

Today was the Puppy class graduation. Lee couldn't figure out the video, so we just have some pictures. But it was all kind of fast paced tonight. But all in all, I really enjoyed the class and I think that Gus has made fabulous improvements! :) Thank you to Aggie Pet Zone and Shannon!

I know, I know...I haven't blogged in a long time. It's been crazy busy at the shelter and when I am off work, I want to be spending time with my hubby and the furkids.

Gus is just about finished with his training class at Aggie Pet Zone. Bless Shannon, she has been so amazing with the dogs and I have seen improvement in Gus. His graduation is next week. Him and Snickers are getting along so great. Like brother and sister, they play and bicker and then the next thing we know they are cuddled up on the futon sleeping away. So cute. Salem just ignores them both, LOL, he will walk on the furniture to get away from them and get to me and Lee. It's funny.

I had my six month evaluation at work this last week. Yes! I have been there for 6 months now, and I still love it. The evaluation went super well and I think I have set pretty good goals for the upcoming year.

Lee is working at Lowe's. I know it's not his favorite job, but it will be good until the summer is over and will give us some extra moving and setting everything up after the wedding money. Like car insurance and phones! :)

All in all, things are going very well. Couldn't complain.

Getting ready for the reception. I think just about everything is done or close to being done. I'm excited to see our family and friends and be able to celebrate our marriage with them. :) I know we will all have a good time.

I'm so proud of Lee. He has an interview to possibly become a high school physics teacher on Thursday!! Keep him in your thoughts. I know he will rock it!

The dogs got their nails trimmed and are ready to head to Austin for the weekend. I'm sure Salem is ready for some peace and quiet. Gus has his 3rd puppy class today after work, should go well.

I think we finally found a place to live next year. Should be a lot nicer and will have a backyard. It's crazy, but here since there are sooo many students, now is the time to lease for August move in. We wouldn't have even started looking until June or July, but we noticed in the paper and on the yard signs that they were already leasing for AUGUST! That is early! And most of the really great properties were already leased. But I think we found a pretty good one. And it's only about 5 years old or so. YAY! More details on that later.

Pups & Updates

Lee, Rebecca, Rob and I went to walk the dogs at the park the other day. It was a lot of fun, and I know it must have been super overwhelming to the elderly people that were walking at the park that day. I thought it was cute and funny -- 4 people with 4 dogs. :) So, I whipped out the cellie to take a few quick videos.

Today was a half day for me. Lee and I went around the BCS area looking for rentals. Not an easy thing to do. I hate searching for a place to live, it's so draining. We found a few prospectives that weren't toooo expensive and have some appointments set up this week and weekend. Wish us luck. Also, today was the dog park opening down the street. We took Snickers & Gus and they has a blast and got some free goodies! Afterward Lee and I took Gus to his puppy class. He did well, he is really starting to get good at his commands. :) Our smart puppy. And Snickers is doing 95% better at the park, she is still the dog police, telling them when they run too fast, but is more sociable with the other dogs. :)

Gus' training class went well. :) Hopefully this class will help his mouthing.

This is little Gus before his bath. Snickers showed him how to play in the muddy puddles. Ya. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her, but her brindle coat is so dark you wouldn't have been able to really see it. Lee walked her home. Gus rode shotgun because he was pretty much dry, but still dirty.

Gus fought me for his bath. I don't know why. Little terror terrier.

First Week Back

Going back to work and classes (Lee) has been bittersweet. We both had so much fun in Vegas that I think we could have easily stayed there for another week -- with more money, of course. But it was also nice to come home and get back into the swing of things. Lee's professors were so great about him missing Thursday, so that was good. Work was a little tough this week, just because the big bosses were out this last week, but all in all, I think I did okay.
We have 20 days until the reception/shin-dig and we are trying to get the little things done now. :) I think Lee and I will be painting dice this week and checking on the drinks. It's mainly the food that we will have to worry about now, I think...
Took the pups to the park today. Snickers is the cop. She let's the other dogs know when they are running too fast. And she hates when they get all up in her business. But all in all, she has improved dramatically around other dogs. Thanks to her papas patience. I stress her out...LOL. Gus still loves everyone and everything. Working on his mouthing.
This week should be pretty busy at work. 2 out of the 3 bosses return and we will prepare for our adoptathon event that is happening on Saturday! YAY.

A Vegas Love Story

The trip was a blast. Lee & I picked shows to attend for our "last night out," me and the ladies went to see "Thunder From Down Under" and Lee and the guys went to see "Bite" at the Stratosphere. Other than those shows, we really just went around to the hotels to site see. We saw the fountains, the volcano, and walked the strip. We ate at In & Out Burger, tons of buffets and the last night we treated ourselves to a fancy dinner to ourselves at the top of the Stratosphere. It was so nice and romantic. :) I'm a very lucky girl.

Our families and some friends came out for our wedding and we couldn't be happier. It was so fun to be able to celebrate with everyone. :) Thank you to everyone that was able to come and those who were with us in spirit (via the world wide web). Love you all!

Took a half day from work, because Tuesday I work late and Wednesday we are heading to Heather and Amber's for the night. So this was my only chance.

6 Days until Lee and I get married in Vegas!! :) I can't wait. I'm so excited. :) Not only will we be getting married, but we will be traveling solo together for the first time. Super stoked.

Today we hung out. Took the pups to the park. Then went to see "Observe and Report" with our friend Xavier.
